I like to shop, don’t you? Now, have you ever tried to buy something on your mobile by using the web browser with that tiny screen? If you have shopped this way, I am sure you agree, the experience could be better. Luckily, for all us shopaholics, there is another way. Some clever businesses are creating shopping applications that are specifically tailored for your smart phone, which makes digital shopping even more easy and fun (remember the days when your only option was cash!…).
So, while everyone now has the opportunity to attack the Christmas shopping from their smart phones, we at MasterCard believe these little digital heroes deserve some recognition.

This December we’re launching an exciting new initiative, the MasterCard Mobile Shopping Application Awards. These awards will recognize and reward the top innovative mobile shopping apps from the Czech Republic, Croatia, Hungary, Poland, Slovakia, Slovenia, Romania, Russia and Turkey.
Applicants will be judged and selected by an independent, international jury of renowned technology experts from the participating countries and the three top applications across all countries, as well as the top three in each market, will be awarded with a trophy, a certificate, and the right to use ‘Winner of MasterCard Mobile Shopping Application Awards 2013’ title and logo in their communications for a year.
For me this initiative is about much more than winning a trophy. It will provide shoppers, retailers and the payment industry with unique and comprehensive insights into the mobile shopping space – which to our knowledge has not been done so far.
